Chlorine remains the leading disinfectant to maintain safe conditions in your pool and spa water. With disinfectant and oxidation properties, it fights bacteria, viruses, fungi and the increase of algae to offer healthy pool and spa water.

There are 2 families of chlorine: stabilised chlorine and stabiliser-free chlorine (calcium hypochlorite) otherwise known as 'Shock Chlorine'. Stabiliser-free chlorine combines sodium hypochlorite (bleach), chlorine generated by salt electrolysis (that produces bleach) and calcium hypochlorite.

Calcium hypochlorite Ca(CIO)2 used in HTH Shock Chlorine products offers superior qualities compared to other treatment methods. It is odour-free and improves bathing comfort and creates crystal-clear water.

Used for shock treatments and regular treatments, it puts an end to the problem of over-stabilisation.

Dosage and Safety

> Shock chlorination: 15 g per m3 water

> To increase the chlorine content by 1 mg/l: use 1.5g per m3 of water

> Let the filtration run for 2 to 3 hours and measure the chlorine rate

> Make sure that it is back down to between 3 and 5 mg/L in order to go bathing

> Do not mix with other products

> Store in a dry, well ventilated place with temperatures not exceeding 35°C

> Always check and maintain sanitiser and pH levels, and always read the instructions on the container prior to using

The low volume of water and the high temperature of a Spa require appropriate and particularly controlled disinfection. Consider that 4 people in a Spa with around 1,000 litres of water is the equivalent of 200 bathers in a 50 m³ pool! So it is essential to disinfect the water and regularly change it for the Spa to remain safe and comfortable. Use HTH spa flash disinfection in order to eliminate every bacteria (like Legionella) and micro-organisms that might be present in the circulation system of the spa.
