How long after adding chlorine granules is it safe to swim?
What happens if you have forgotten to add your chlorine and now the children are begging to go for a swim? The safety of your swimmers is at the forefront of every responsible pool owner's mind. We can help you make an informed estimation based upon your pool and the amount and type of chlorine used:
- If you have used a chlorine shock treatment it is safest to wait at least 24 hours.
- If you have used a non-shock granular chlorine treatment then we would recommend waiting at least 4 hours for the filter to complete a full turnover of the water.
- As with any chemicals, the best way to know for sure is to use Chlorine Test Strips to ensure that your chlorine levels are sitting comfortably between 2.00 and 4.00 ppm.
No matter which type of pool chemical you're using, it's always best to carefully read and follow the instructions on the product label. This label will include helpful information, including recommended wait times before jumping back in!
Can you put chlorine granules directly in the pool?
Gone are the days of pre-dissolving chlorine granules in a bucket and mixing it with a wooden stick. Although, there are still plenty of chlorine products that will expect this of you - not with our range of granular chlorine. As always please do check all the labels before using your products.
Your relationship with chlorine is about to get a lot better, the majority of our chlorine products are simply sprinkled directly onto the surface of the pool. Due to the advanced technology used in creating our products, traditional issues have become a thing of the past. All our granular chlorine is a small granule or powder formulation, therefore there is no risk of bleaching your liner or residues being left in your pool.
Smart pool owners know that this is the way forward to ensure easy and efficient water chemistry.
